Heatsy are a boiler repair & installation company offering services in South London, Surrey & Kent. Heatsy was formed by Lee, a gas engineer with over 20 years of experience in the heating industry. After serving an apprenticeship with British Gas, Lee worked for many of London’s other well-known heating companies holding positions including Lead Engineer, Quality Control Supervisor, and Compliance Manager.
I initially completed my full service SEO gig for Lee in early September 2021. Three months later Lee contacted me looking to build on the progress made over those months and asked if I could look to put together a custom service that would help target local landing pages.
I have a subscription service in place which works very well, but this brief and budget allowed for something a little different. I put forward a proposal to include 10 UK contextual links, 5 com contextual links, 1 redirect and 1 Google News Approved post. This combination would be repeated 4 times, every 3 weeks at a cost of $125 per set of links.
Independent SEO tools show that prior to the full service gig taking place in September the site’s Moz authority score was 10. In the 3 months following up until December it had increased to 23. It’s currently 24 with the redirect element still to take full effect. Check the numbers yourself here.
A website’s domain authority score is a score not set by Google but does give an indication on how a website should perform in the search results. As the authority score rises, so too should visitor numbers and as we see, that is the case for Heatsy…
Statistics from Semrush show that in September, monthly visitor numbers to the site were around 1,020. This had increased to 1,471 by December. Following the custom offer, 12 weeks later visitor numbers are at 2,359 per month.
(note. The authority score shown on Semrush is a different metric to Moz)
Driving the increase in visitor numbers is the visibility on Google for the site’s targeted keywords and phrases. It is logical that the more times you appear in the search results, the more visitors you will get.
Again, using Semrush we can see that the site had 551 words and phrases in the top 100 back in December. As of February this stands at 730. More importantly though, we’re seeing an increase in the phrases positioned in the top 3, positions 4-10 and positions 11-20. It’s all well and good in seeing more pages appearing but if they’re on page 10 it won’t necessarily impact traffic numbers.
